Photoshop Final
So here are 2 photos that I tweaked to produce the final for the photoshop half of the class. The top one is the one I was originally going to go with. Basically the theme was giant lizard attacking a castle. But I decided that there were just too many things wrong with it and it didn't fit her guidelines which would have gotten me a bad grade for sure. So I went with the one on the bottom. Basically I took other photos to make one cohesive photo. The flowers are added, the fountain, the clock and the lanterns. I hand drew the banners and added little bits to them to make them look real. Of course I had to touch up the main photo as well before I added all of the other elements to it. I think it came out really well and I though it really looked realistic.

Turntable
This was my attempt at a turntable. Not as good as my other work I think but still not bad. She wanted us label each individual record, you wouldn't be able to tell without have the .psd file and the actual photoshop program but it's still pretty cool. I could have made the records less shiny too. I did get a good grade and I followed her directions to the letter and that's all that matters really.

Fruit Bowl
This is a fruit bowl that we had to create. Everything is free form so I did not take any of these images from the internet or anywhere else. Meaning that I created the background to look like clouds, the table, and I obviously made a plate instead of a bowl because I was having a hard time figuring out how to make a bowl. I opted for easy fruits like grapes, oranges, and apples. I did have an extremely hard time with the banana though. I tried a Wacom tablet to create some of these and it only made things worse. Personally I believe the Wacom is only good for those who already have some kind of artistic talent.

Dungeon
So this was what I ended up doing with the walls layout. Of course my mind went right to video games so I created a dungeon that you might find in an older PC video game. I made the bricks textured, added in the archway, the barrel, the treasure chest that's actually a monster (called a Mimic in Dungeons and Dragons), the torches and the balls of flames in the corners. It proved a challenge but I had fun with it and learned a lot from this exercise.

Walls Project
After some practice with touching up photos (which I'm not posting because they were the professors) she introduced us to this cool project. Basically we made a grid that looked like bricks. Then we placed it in the frame that she had us setup which I believe was 720x480. I blacked the background so it looks like it's dark and I added the graffiti on the left had side that just says, "Disturbed".
It was basically a practice with warping objects and skewing them the way we want to in order to make up a particular picture. I say practice obviously because we were using these techniques throughout most of the class up until we started After Effects. Not too mention I thought this technique would be really relevant to me if I wanted to start creating my own video game art.

My 3 Dogs
This photo originally had my mother in law in it and the dog cage as well as the curtains. The funniest part is that my mother in law was dangling a piece of bacon so they would all pose nicely. So I cut all of them out by cropping and I touched up the dogs a little bit. All black labs are really hard to fix in photoshop.

Duck on a bench
This was a picture of my professor's kids sitting on a bench. Our job was to take a picture of a duck and place it over the boys head and then color in the arms to make it look believable. Then we had to clean up the background a little and completely take the girl out of the picture entirely. As you can imagine taking a human being out of the picture completely and replacing her with nothing but the park bench was a little difficult. Especially since I've never used photoshop before and this was like our second week of class at this point.

Introduction
My first semester back to school in a long time and I decided to persue a new field. Computer Science, specifically Video Game Design. My background is in Psychology specifically Industrial/Organizational Psychology but lately it's difficult to find a job and I feel less drawn to the field so I decided to go back to school and get another degree. One that might suit me a little better since I have been playing video games for as long as I've been born.
Anyway the class was called Multimedia for the web but essentially it was a class on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. Therefore this leads me to blog about my photos and my projects. Later on I might think about entering Jinx monthly contests as well and then I'll probably post those photos here as well.
Basically this blog is designed to showcase my work and eventually I hope to create my own game art as well as to create my own AMV (that's Anime Music Video) to compete with at competitions as well. Please feel free to comment but if you do I ask you to please try to be nice as this was my first introduction to these programs and it's not exactly easy and I have spend a lot of hours working on these projects. Thank you and enjoy. I hope to start posting pictures soon so be on the lookout.
